Nativity Crafts for Christmas Sunday School

For a Sunday school Nativity craft, choose a standing stable, a rolled manger cone or a picture-panel lantern. Match the construction to the adult help available, then prepare that design's supplies.

Choose the stable for a standing scene

The 3D stable download includes a front with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus, side and back walls, a roof, six additional Nativity friends and a star. The printed front includes the reference Luke 2:11.

Seven printable pages contain a how-to page, three full-colour template sheets and three black-and-white colouring sheets. A4 and US Letter PDFs are supplied. The listing recommends ages 5+ with an adult helper.

It calls for cardstock, scissors, a glue stick, a ruler and an empty ballpoint pen for scoring. Colouring tools are needed if you choose the black-and-white version. Build the stable before attaching the side characters and roof star.

Choose the cone for a focused model

The manger cone is a separate full-colour download with a how-to page and a template page. Its three pieces form the stable cone, manger and star.

Print on the listed cardstock or thick paper, cut the pieces, roll and glue the cone, then attach the star and manger. The listing describes it for ages 4+ and notes that little ones may need help rolling the cone.

This format can keep attention on one central model. It does not include the stable set's separate cast of side characters.

Choose the lantern for picture panels

The Nativity lantern set has ten colour designs and the same ten in black-and-white. Each lantern has four illustrated panels. The twenty-two pages include how-to sheets, supplied in A4 and US Letter PDFs.

The directions say to colour first if needed, cut the outlines and windows, fold the dashed lines, and glue the flaps and handle. It is listed for ages 4+ with grown-up scissor help. Follow the supplied directions for any optional battery LED tea light; never use a real candle.

Make the discussion fit your session

Let the craft support the lesson you have planned. Use your chosen teaching material for the story and check the actual printed wording when discussing the design. Different Nativity downloads need different assembly support, even when they share the same seasonal theme.
