Winter Animal Crafts: Flat Scenes or a 3D Igloo
Make winter animal paper crafts as flat penguin or polar bear scenes, or choose a folded igloo for a standing display. Check the assembly description before buying: a product with house in its name does not always build into a hollow model.
Choose a penguin picture for arranging
The Penguin Igloo House download has an igloo, three penguins, snowflakes, fish and ice cubes. Each A4 and US Letter PDF contains a black-and-white page and a coloured page.
Its process is to colour if needed, cut the dashed outlines, arrange the pieces and glue them. The description does not give wall-folding or roof-building steps. Treat the result as a cut-and-paste scene.
The listing recommends white cardstock or thick paper. As a home setup, keep a base area clear and let the child try positions for the penguins before using adhesive. Choose one paper-size version rather than printing both copies of the same artwork.
Use polar bears for a different winter cast
The Polar Bear Snow Cave download supplies a cave, Papa, Mama and Baby Bear, snowflakes, clouds and ice blocks. It also has coloured and colouring pages in both paper sizes.
Children cut, arrange and paste the pieces. Regular paper is described as suitable for colouring and classroom use, with cardstock or thick paper recommended for a sturdier craft.
Use these family characters to begin an imagined snow-day story. The paper artwork is a story prompt; it does not provide a factual habitat lesson. Bring your own teaching material if you want the activity to accompany an animal study.
Build the 3D igloo for a display
The separate 3D igloo set has six full-colour pages, including illustrated instructions and five craft sheets. Parts include walls, roof, entrance tunnel, a snowy yard with an ice pond, friends, birds and trees.
Print at Actual Size / 100% on the specified cardstock. Cut solid outlines, score dashed lines, assemble the igloo and entrance, and attach the building to its yard. The friends and trees use glued back stands.
The listing names scissors, adhesive and a ruler, and says younger children will enjoy building with a grown-up's help. Complete the structure before adding the loose figures.
