VBS Paper Craft Stations: Prayer, Verses and Props
Set up VBS paper craft stations around three different responses: fill a prayer pocket, assemble a Psalm 25 display kite or make a Christian photo prop. Choose the response that fits your lesson and prepare its materials before offering the craft choice.
Make the pocket a prayer-response station
The Prayer Pita Pocket supplies matching front and back pieces, six illustrated prayer-starter cards and six write-or-draw cards. Each A4 and US Letter PDF has six pages across colour and black-and-white versions.
Print the pocket and cards from the same paper-size file at Actual Size. The directions specify glue only on the shaded curved rim, leaving the straight top open. Let that join dry fully before inserting cards one at a time.
Its listed age range is 5-9 with adult cutting and assembly help. Younger children may need the prompts read aloud. Provide pencils, colouring tools if needed, scissors and a glue stick, with paper or light cardstock. Avoid heavy layered card and do not force a thick stack into the pocket.
Use the kite for a verse display
The Psalm 25 kite has a black-and-white page and a coloured page. Its design connects with Psalm 25:1 and includes five faith-message bows plus tail-strip pieces.
Children colour if wanted, cut the kite and bows, then attach the bows to the tail strips. The described result is a wall or bulletin-board display, rather than a kite to take outdoors and fly.
At this station, you could discuss one bow message before gluing. That is a suggested conversation using the artwork; it is not the prayer pocket's card activity. Keep the two sets' pieces and lesson prompts separate.
Prepare handles for the photo props
The Christian Summer set has two oversized sunglasses props and one bucket-hat prop. Colour and black-and-white versions are listed in A4 and US Letter.
The directions attach each cutout to a wooden craft stick using glue or strong tape. These are held photo props, rather than a wearable hat and glasses set.
White cardstock and Actual Size printing are recommended. Adult cutting assistance is also recommended, and sticks and other physical supplies are not included.
Decide which stations you can support
Use this preparation list:
- Make a pocket sample to check the open top and glue rim.
- Keep kite bows beside the matching tail pieces.
- Gather sticks before printing the prop pages.
- Reserve a place for wet joins to rest.
- Give every station one clear response prompt.
You can run one choice instead of all three. The prayer pocket permits use in your own classroom or church group, and the summer props specify single-church use; retain the digital files rather than sharing them across organisations.

Questions and answers
Does the prayer pocket need heavy card?
Its listing recommends paper or light cardstock around 160-180 gsm and says to avoid heavy layered card for the flat pocket.
Is the Psalm 25 kite intended to fly?
The description presents a cut-and-paste kite craft for a wall, board or door display. It does not describe a flying kite.
